The Shan 5 Ridecaster Limited Edition Is Running Out — Grab One While You Can

Some bikes get a limited edition because marketing needs a reason to send an email. The Ridecaster got one because, honestly, it deserved it.
Nine years ago the Shan No5 arrived as our first full-suspension bike, built entirely from steel at a time when 27.5in wheels were still considered the sensible choice. It's grown up since - bigger wheels, a switch to a carbon rear triangle for the dynamics, and a decade of dialling in that's left it as the aggressive trail bike we're proudest of. Playful. Terrain-hungry. The bike that opens up a corner instead of just surviving it.
The Ridecaster is the No5 at full volume. Full send, as the name suggests, and not shy about it - the graphics alone will start conversations at the trailhead, and the spec underneath backs up the attitude on top.

Where the No6 (more on that bike another week) is built for riders who want to stay pinned and commit to the fastest line, the Ridecaster is for the ones who want to play with the terrain on the way down - who see a berm as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Steel-front triangle, the same carbon-rear DNA, entirely different personality.

The Shan 5 Ridecaster was born from a genuine collaboration between Production Privée and luthier Pierre-Antoine Roiron of Atelier Roiron — pairing a mountain bike frame and an electric guitar built from the same design DNA. Think Gretsch White Falcon curves meets trail-ready steel.

    The front triangle is hand-welded from 4130 CrMo MCS steel, prized for its strength, elasticity, and fatigue resistance — while a carbon composite swingarm (custom-laminated T700/T800) cuts unsprung weight nearly in half versus the previous generation. Less unsprung mass, more dynamic, planted handling on the trail.
  • R.KTP Single-Pivot Suspension, Dialled for 140mm of Travel
    The Shan 5's R.KTP suspension platform keeps maintenance minimal while isolating lateral forces from the shock — meaning full, sensitive use of the 140mm travel without bottoming out, and sharper cornering feel when you need it most.
  • Built for Trail & Enduro Riders, 29" Wheels, 4 Sizes
    Available in Small through X-Large (covering riders under 175cm up to 192cm+), with a slack 64.3° head angle, low -36mm BB drop, and generous reach figures (445–508mm) that put this squarely in modern trail/enduro geometry territory.
